The pandemic reduced the number of loans signed during 2020 to 333,721 in total. That represents the lowest figure since 2017 and breaks six years of consecutive annual increases, according to provisional data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
However, the organism noted on Friday that “with the easing of the lockdown restrictions and the return to a new normality, there was a gradual recovery in terms of the number of mortgages constituted over homes”.
