Covid-19’s Impact the Rental Market in Madrid

The pandemic caused the average time to rent a home to soar last year, but there are major differences by region. It takes half as long to rent a flat in Vicálvaro and Moratalaz as it does in the Centre.

Since the Covid crisis began, the time it takes to rent a property in Madrid has notably increased. Between the second quarter of 2019 and the first quarter of 2020, the average time to rent a home had stabilised at 1.5 months in Madrid.

However, since then, the average time to rent a property in the capital has skyrocketed, reaching 2.4 months between January and March 2021, according to data from the big data real estate platform Brainsre.
