Four years after implementing the controversial measures, the Barcelona City Council, led by Ada Colau (Barcelona en Comú), has updated the Special Urban Development Plan for Tourist Accommodations (PEUAT).
“After four years in force, last January, the revision of the text was initially approved to update and adapt it to the current situation and that of the coming years. Now, once the period of public comment and the process of participation and debate with political groups, neighbours, entities, the regulations will be submitted for final approval, starting next Tuesday with the Ecology, Urbanism, Infrastructure and Mobility Commission, followed by a vote in the City Council Plenary on December 23,” the Consistory explained.
Among the main changes affecting the hotel sector, which has been highly critical of the current regulations, which have prevented the development of landmark projects in buildings such as the Agbar Tower and the former headquarters of Deutsche Bank, are changes to the division of the city into four areas, with varying regulations.
