Following the pandemic, the American e-commerce giant multiplied its logistics network by acquiring different distribution centres. Now, however, it is taking a step back: consumer activity is not as high as it was during the company’s expansion phase, which has forced it to slam on the brakes and admit that it has had an oversupply problem for months.
In Spain, Amazon has announced the cancellation of its logistics warehouse projects in Reus, Girona, Sevilla and Vitoria. They join a long line of other projects around the world that the American company has decided to suspend. In the end, the aforementioned centres in Spain will not open their doors in the coming months and, according to El Economista, other properties could also follow suit.
