The consequences of the coronavirus are beginning to be seen in the Spanish economy and, above all, in the hotel sector, one of the hardest hit by the pandemic, since it has had to completely cease all activity. That, together with the collapse in tourism worldwide, and the uncertainty about when any kind of normality will be restored (more and more agents in the sector are now writing off this year and next), has led an increasing number of hoteliers to begin to move the sale of their establishments in the market to obtain liquidity.

In this way, over the last two weeks, new opportunities have timidly begun to come onto the market and some previous operations have been reactivated, says El Confidencial. Although there are all kinds offers – from free sales processes by operators to those including management -, it is expected that sale & leaseback operations will be one of the main protagonists since that structure is specifically designed for sellers that need to raise cash.
