Covid Does Not Curtail Spain’s Tourist Housing Stock, Which Now Exceeds 320,000 Units

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) has published the results of an experimental operation aimed at providing information about the number of tourist homes being advertised through digital platforms, as well as their size.

The analysis, carried out in August, reveals some surprising data, despite the impact of the Covid on the tourism sector and the forced conversion of many holiday homes into traditional flats for rental or sale. In this way, there were 321,496 tourist homes in Spain in August 2020, containing a total of 1,627,377 beds with an average of 5.1 beds per home, according to data managed by the statistics agency.
