The large textile groups such as Inditex, Mango, Decathlon and Tendam, as well as the department store giant El Corte Inglés have taken advantage of the relaxation in the measures established by the Government during the State of Emergency to reopen most of their stores in Spain. Until now, the decree prevented establishments spanning more than 400 square metres from opening during phases 0 and 1; but now, those premises with larger surface areas are allowed to open, provided they cordon off the commercial space to comply with these dimensions.
Yesterday, the country’s more than ninety El Corte Inglés department stores, which have only been allowed to open their food halls during the State of Emergency, cordoned off 400 square metres in each store dedicated to other activity to reopen as a point of sale. It was the person in charge of each store who decided which area to reopen to the public, reports Expansión. Since Monday, El Corte Inglés stores in Goya and Preciados in Madrid have been open, along with the El Corte Inglés by Francesc Macià, in Barcelona.
