Now that the pandemic is over, Spain’s major holiday destinations are focusing their investment on improvements and new stock in the hotel sector, taking back the lead from an excessively urban ranking dominated by Madrid and Barcelona in 2021. According to the report H REFCON 2022 published by Colliers, the volume of investment allocated to the renovation and construction of hotels amounted to 1.66 billion euros during this financial year.
Specifically, so-called vacation hotels accounted for 59% of the total investment figure, after an atypical 2021 during which investment in hotel renovations and construction was directed mostly at the urban segment.
