Despite the strong impact that the Covid crisis is having on the retail sector, investors are confident in its recovery and are committed to the launch of new commercial projects in the Spanish market.
At the end of 2020, there were 567 shopping centres in Spain, spanning a combined gross leasable area (GLA) of 16.4 million square metres. In those centres, it is estimated that there were 33,300 shops, of which 85% were occupied by medium-sized and small businesses, in premises spanning less than 300 square metres, according to annual data from the Spanish Association of Shopping Centres and Retail Parks (AECC).
