Spain Closes 2021 With a Hotel Occupancy Rate of 31.8%

That figure was 68% higher than the rate recorded in 2020, a year that was severely impacted by the outbreak of the coronavirus health crisis.

Spain closed 2021 with a hotel occupancy rate of 31.6%, up by 68% compared to the previous year. According to the consulting firm Cushman & Wakefield, revenue per available room also grew, to 35.9 euros, almost double the average (17.9 euros) obtained in 2020. Also, the average daily price grew by 20%, to 113.6 euros.

The Costa del Sol, spearheaded by Málaga, was the area with the highest occupancy rate – 51% for the year as a whole, almost double the average recorded in 2020. Marbella’s occupancy rate remained stable at 29%, nevertheless, it achieved the highest income per available room and the highest average daily price in all of Spain, amounting to 272 euros and 80 euros, respectively.
