The Catalan real estate company Renta Corporación has acquired the office building at 123 Vía Augusta in Barcelona. It has already begun work to develop a new coworking space on the site.
The refurbishment work on this shared office project, which has almost 4,000 square metres distributed over eight floors, will involve an investment of eight million euros.
Renta Corporación has leased the building to IWG, a company specialising in flexible workspaces. According to the listed company, the area does not currently house any similar large, high-performance coworking space.
The building has been the headquarters of the Institute of American Studies Foundation for more than 50 years. Once completed, the building will house the new Spaces branded coworking centre, owned by the International Workplace Group (IWG). The centre is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2022.
