According to data from the Notary Association of Catalonia, residential property sales rose by 15.6% in Catalonia in the month of August compared to the year 2020, above the annual average of 11.9%.
José Alberto Marín, dean of the Notary Association of Catalonia, stated that «this upward trend in year-on-year sales and purchases, with greater moderation than in previous months, shows a certain normalisation, which is leaving behind the exceptional nature of the months of the previous year that were most marked by the pandemic. The increase in loans for buying a home, since the new law regulating real estate loan contracts with the reinforcement of pre-contractual notarial intervention, which we value very positively, shows that activity in this sector continues to be active».
