The family investment company of Gerard Piqué, of FC Barcelona fame, has acquired the site of the former Andalucía cinema where they want to build a five-star hotel. According to Diario Sur, the owner of the site, the trading company Inversiones y Adquisiciones de Hoteles SL, sold the land for around 20 million euros to the holding company chaired by the athlete’s father.
The group aims to build a luxury hotel to be operated by the Meliá chain. The agreement is worth more than 50 million euros, including both the sale of the land and the construction of the building.
This operation will bring the first such hotel to the city of Malaga. Melía has several establishments on the Costa del Sol, but this would be the first in the capital.
