There were 37,961 new mortgages for buying a home in June, 41.2% more than in the same month of 2020. The average amount reached 140,456 euros, an increase of 5.5%.
Moreover, June saw the highest monthly increase between May and June in the last five years, up 7.8%.
By region, growth was often exponential, as in Cantabria, where it rose by 97% y-o-y, Aragon (87%), and Castilla-La Mancha (86.5%) also reported strong increases. Andalusia (7,853), the Community of Madrid (7,372) and Catalonia (5,889) led in the number of new mortgages granted, with growth of 31.2%, 49.6% and 21.8%, respectively.
