Non-hotel establishments are making progress in their recovery after the pandemic. According to the INE, there were 16 million non-hotel overnight stays in July, 58% more than in the same month in 2020.
The 16 million overnight stays involved a sales of 42.4 million euros, 93.9% more than in July last year. 37.8% of tourists chose non-hotel accommodations.
People who stayed in such places were mainly Spanish tourists, totalling 11.6 million (72.5%). These increased by close to the average, 51.2%. Those of foreigners rose more sharply, by 79.4%, reaching 4.4 million overnight stays. The tourists who visit Spain the most are German, French and British. Catalonia is the favourite destination, together with Andalusia and the Balearic Islands.
