Month by month, the year is coming to an end and, although the official figures lag somewhat behind the reality during these final days of the year, each new statistic confirms that the dreaded economic slowdown has not yet arrived, albeit not based on the figures registered during the autumn. A few days ago, Spain’s National Institute of Statistics confirmed that the number of house sales closed its best October in 15 years. And yesterday, it was the turn of mortgage signings with a similar finding: the number of mortgages constituted over homes increased by 13.5% compared to the same month in 2021, with 41,022 loans, the highest figure in a month of October since 2009.
With the year-on-year rise in October, which was more than nine points higher than that experienced in September, the signing of residential mortgages has now recorded 20 consecutive months of year-on-year increases, reports Europa Press.
