The transactional market was subdued in August. During the eighth month of the year, there were 16 M&A transactions, 26% fewer than in August 2020, according to Transactional Track Record. These transactions were worth an aggregate of €457.4 million.
Year-to-date, there have been 332 mergers and acquisitions between announced and closed, totalling 7.634 billion euros. Annually, this figure represents an increase of 9.93% in the number of operations and 67.64% in the amount, compared to January-August 2020.
Most of the deals were in the real estate sector, including 56 transactions and €1.766 billion in capital.
The Spanish real estate sector played a leading role in 13 operations this year in venture capital operations. Totalling 260 million euros, investment capital grew by 1,322%. Nine private equity deals summed €586 million.
Spanish real estate companies choose Portugal as the main destination for their investments, six so far this year. On the other hand, the largest investments were in France (€539.14 million). The largest inward investments in Spain originated in the United States (35) and Germany (22).
