The residential sector, especially the rental housing segment, is facing a great challenge: how to respond to an increasingly growing demand for housing.
According to estimates made by the real estate consultant Colliers, Spain needs between 1.5 and 2 million additional rental homes. Given that the development of these properties will not be carried out immediately, investors will have to mobilise a total investment in residential rental properties of more than 250 billion euros. That figure represents more than the State’s annual expenditure on pensions, which is estimated to amount to less than 200 billion euros.
