In total, 52,684 house sales were recorded in the property registers in January 2022, which represents a 31% increase compared to the same month last year, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) on Wednesday.
Specifically, 91.9% of the homes sold in January were private (48,425 units, up by 33% YoY) and 8.1% were protected properties (4,259 units, up by 11.6% YoY). Likewise, 19% of the homes sold were new (9,992 units, up by 17.2% YoY) and 81% were second-hand (42,692 units, up by 34.7% YoY).
