
Last year was one of the most difficult for the hotel sector due to the outbreak of Covid-19. There was a sharp drop in tourism as a result of the mobility restrictions and periods of lockdown that were introduced around the globe to slow the spread of the virus.
In Spain as a whole, occupancy rates fell to 30.5% in 2020, compared to 75% in 2019. In turn, revenue per available room (RevPAR) was 27.5 euros, down by 68% compared to the previous year, according to data from the Hotel Sector Barometer, prepared by STR and Cushman & Wakefield.
