The Tax Agency (AEAT) is intensifying its control over taxpayers who receive income from overseas and from rental homes. This year, AEAT has increased its warnings to new groups in the annual Tax Return Campaign, according to Expansión.
Specifically, it is warning taxpayers with income from overseas that they may have to declare their income streams thanks to new information from the international exchange of CRS bank accounts, amongst other factors. This could affect 2,320,000 taxpayers, up from 2,170,000 last year. It has also issued a warning to owners of rental homes, both tourist accommodation and other types. There are now thought to be 1,560,000 landlords compared with 700,000 the previous year.
