Xior Student Housing will build and operate a student residence in the centre of Zaragoza, investing a total of 26 million euros, the Belgian company announced on Monday.
Specifically, Xior has won a tender process, launched by Zaragoza Vivienda, a Zaragoza City Council company, to develop and operate a student residence in the Pignatelli area of the Aragonese capital for a concession period of 75 years. The home, which will have 388 beds, is expected to be ready for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The project consists of two plots of land, with a total buildable area of more than 13,500 m2. There are existing former military buildings, which require refurbishment.
The first building, barracks located at 4 Madre Rafols Street, will be completely refurbished and extended with an annexe. The land has a buildable surface area of 6,066 m2.
The second, a residence, will undergo a complete refurbishment and will be extended at both ends with two annexes, is located at numbers 8, 10 and 12 of the same street. The land has a surface area of 7,448 m2.
