The rental market continues to suffer from the Covid-19 crisis. Since the pandemic’s outbreak, the time it takes to rent a home has increased significantly. At the same time, contracts are becoming shorter and shorter.

The data stems from the study ‘Rental Market X-Ray 2021’, prepared by Alquiler Seguro, which analyses trends in the sector across 11 provinces: Álava, Alicante, Barcelona, A Coruña, Madrid, Málaga, Murcia, Seville, Valencia, Vizcaya and Zaragoza.

According to the study, there has been a generalised increase in the amount of time a property is on the rental market until the contract is signed, compared to the same period last year.

The province of Malaga (63 days) is suffering from the longest waits, followed by Murcia (62), Alicante (62), Valencia (59), Vizcaya (58), Seville (55), Barcelona (53), Madrid (52), A Coruña (53), Zaragoza (51) and Álava (48).
