There Are Now 728 Shopping Centres in Spain and Portugal

The gross leasable area of the whole Iberian shopping centre market stood at 20.15 million square metres at the end of last year, up by 1% compared to a year earlier.

The supply in the Iberian shopping centre sector in Spain and Portugal continued its upward trend in 2018 and 2019, in a context of positive developments in private consumption, although there was “a slowdown in the rate of growth” last year, according to the DBK Sector Observatory report by Informa.

In this way, at the end of 2019, the gross leasable area (GLA) in the Iberian market as a whole stood at 20.15 million square meters, up by 1% compared to 2018, when the year-on-year variation amounted to 2.5%.
