The State and Pryconsa Will Build 600 Homes on the Site of the Former Prison in Carabanchel

After several years on the backburner, the urban project to develop Carabanchel's former prison, where 600 houses will be built, is going ahead. The land has a surface area of more than 170,000 square metres.

Pryconsa and the State want to revive the urban development plans for the land where Carabanchel’s former prison used to stand in Madrid more than a decade ago.

The plot will allow for the construction of more than 600 homes, 30% of which will be afforded some kind of official protection. In addition, there will be buildings for tertiary and social use and even some health facilities, including the possibility of a public hospital, something the residents of Carabanchel have been demanding for a decade.
