The retail sector is one of the hardest hit by the Covid-19 health crisis, due to the national lockdown last spring and the numerous restrictions that it is still facing both in terms of capacity and opening hours.
In fact, many businesses are currently being forced to close in those municipalities where the Covid incidence rate is particularly high. And even in the areas where businesses are able to open, footfall in shopping centres has dropped by up to 40%. As a result, during the third quarter of 2020, the price of transactions reached its lowest level for the last 17 years, at 1,238 euros per m2, according to data from the real estate big data platform Brainsre. Moreover, provisional publication prices for the fourth quarter of 2020 reference a figure of 975 euros per m2.
