The leasing of office space is showing signs of recovery. According to data from Cushman & Wakefield, during the first half of this year, the rental of office space increased “significantly” in Barcelona by 26% (to reach 183,000 square metres) and in Madrid by 47% (to reach 235,000 square metres). The figures are similar to those recorded in the first half of 2019, says the consultant.
Analysis of the office market in Barcelona
In the second quarter of 2022, 91,000 square metres of office space was leased in the city of Barcelona, which represents an increase of 61% from the 56,500 square metres rented out in the same quarter of 2021. In the case of the first six months of this year, the percentage increase drops to 26% compared to the same period a year earlier, with a total of 183,000 square metres.
