The Spanish hotel sector is gradually recovering its activity following the pandemic. Positive data was recorded in the month of March with 17.6 million overnight stays in hotel establishments. That figure represents an increase of 391.6% compared to the same month in 2021, when there were 3.5 million overnight stays, according to data from the INE.
By country of origin, overnight stays by travellers residing in Spain exceeded 7.0 million in March, whereby accounting for 40.3% of the total. On the other hand, those by non-residents exceeded 10.5 million.
