After closing one of the worst years in the history of the hotel sector, with a 73.3% drop in overnight stays to 91.6 million during 2020 as a whole, hotels are continuing to suffer badly from the consequences of the pandemic.
In this way, overnight hotel stays exceeded 2.3 million in January, which represented a drop of 85% compared to the same month in 2020. That figure was even higher than the variation registered in December, when the decrease amounted to 81.2%, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
