The scene in Mallorca at this point in the summer is very different to what we are used to seeing. Many closed businesses, empty beaches, tranquillity and hardly any tourists: that is the image that Mallorcans are currently seeing, as they await the arrival of 1 July, when borders reopen and international flights resume.

The Balearic tourism sector and the thousands of families who depend on it for their livelihoods have low expectations for the summer and are anxious about the next few months, reports El Confidencial.
