Spanish Hotels Report 38% Occupancy in June

Twelve thousand eight hundred seventeen hotels in Spain have reopened since the start of the pandemic, 67% of the total. In June, prices in every category rose except for five-star hotels.

There is a growing but still moderate recovery in the Spanish hotel market. According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), for the month of June, two-thirds of the hotels in Spain (12,815) were open during the month, compared to 5,996 in the same period of the previous year.

During June, there were more than 14.1 million overnight stays in hotels in the country, increasing 654.6% y-o-y. However, when compared to June 2019, overnight stays fell by 62%.

In total, overnight stays in hotels are still 23.6% below the same period of the previous year.
