The General Council of Economists in Spain has reacted fiercely to the future law that will allow autonomous regions and municipalities to temporarily limit rental prices in what the Government calls “stressed” or “highly sought-after” areas, in particular, in large cities. The future legislation is due to be presented to the Council of Ministers in February.
During a virtual conference, the senior body of economists asked for the problem to be addressed in a ‘planned’ way, because in their opinion, “there are no magic or simple solutions to the problem of access to housing, as some of the populist proposals seem to suggest”.
