Spain Needs to Double its Supply of Nursing Homes for the Elderly to 785,000 Beds

By 2050, 785,000 residential beds will be needed, which will require an investment of 35 billion euros, in a sector where only 8% of the assets are owned by investment funds.

In Spain, there is currently a deficit of 66,000 beds in nursing homes for the elderly; and this figure will gradually increase as the population ages and the dependency index rises.

Specifically, around 785,000 residential places will be needed by 2050, double the number that existed in 2018, according to a report entitled ‘In-depth analysis of the nursing home sector in Spain’, prepared by PwC for the Business Federation of Assistance for Dependents (FED).
