The Spanish Association of Shopping Centres and Retail Parks (AECC) has submitted a series of proposals to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, led by Reyes Maroto, which aim to minimise the effects on a sector that, along with tourism and hotels, is suffering most from the impact of the crisis caused by the Covid-19 coronavirus.

The measures being requested of the Government include aid for tenants for the payment of rents, with tax credit measures and the reduction of taxes on activity. Another idea is that shopping centres will be able to open every Sunday and public holiday, throughout the country, during the financial years 2020 and 2021, to recover the weeks that they are currently having to remain closed.
