The Único Hotels group, owned by the Guardans family, has sold the Grand Hotel Central in Barcelona to Schroders Capital Real Estate. The 146-room hotel, located in the old town of the Catalan capital, was sold for 93 million euros.
Specifically, the acquisition has been made through the Schroder European Operating Hotel Fund I. This is the €500 million European vehicle’s first investment.
In addition, Schroders Capital and Único Hotels intend to take advantage of the five-star hotel’s recent refurbishment to secure their position in the city’s luxury hotel market.
Schroders Capital Real Estate has been managing real estate funds since 1971 and currently has €18.6 billion in assets under management.
