The President of Banco Santander, Ana Botín, has pointed to the real estate sector as a key driver for the exit from the economic crisis in Spain. She made the comments during her speech at an extraordinary plenary session organised by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce entitled “The recovery and reconstruction of the Spanish economy: challenges and priorities”.
The businesswoman indicated that, with the development of the mortgage market, “inclusion, sustainability and employment” would be generated. Likewise, she said that the data shows that, one in every three people who live in rental properties would prefer to buy their own home. The problem lies in their ability to access a mortgage or simply to save for a deposit.
