The month of May closed with a 6% year-on-year drop in rental prices in Spain to an average of 10.7 euros/m2/month, according to the latest price report by idealista.
Furthermore, the price has fallen by 1.2% in the last quarter and by 0.5% during the previous 30 days.
Over the last year, 23 capitals have experienced a fall in the price of rental housing. The most pronounced declines have been in Barcelona and Madrid, where prices had reached a peak since idealista began tracking exactly one year ago. Since then, owners’ expectations in Barcelona have fallen by 17.8% and in Madrid by 13.4%. The two cities were followed by falls in Palma (-11.6%), Seville (-9.1%), Malaga (-8.2%), Valencia (-7.9%), Alicante (-5.4%), Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (-5.3%), Valladolid (-4.4%) and Salamanca (-2.6%).
