Across Europe, 30% of people live in rental accommodation, making the rate in Spain 5% lower than the European average.
The rental market is gaining followers in Spain. According to a 2020 Eurostat report, 24.9% of Spaniards live in a rental home, whilst 75.1% of people in Spain live in a home that they own.
The European average stands at 69.7% for owned homes and 30.3% for rental properties. This means that there are more homeowners in Spain than the European Union average, however, the country comes in at just thirteenth on the European ranking.
