Rental Prices Fall in More than Half of the Districts of Madrid and Barcelona in August

The price of rental housing in Spain rose by 0.1% in August, on average, and increased by 8.6% in interannual terms to reach €10.74/m2, according to data from Fotocasa's Real Estate Index.

The rental market is continuing to oscillate between a downward correction and landlords’ resistance to such a correction. The price of rental housing in Spain rose by 0.1% in August, on average, and increased by 8.6% in interannual terms, to reach €10.74/m2, according to data from Fotocasa’s Real Estate Index.

That value is 28% below the average for the Community of Madrid, which in August stood at €14.97/m2 per month. However, ten autonomous communities in Spain recorded negative monthly data in August 2020, in addition to more than half of the districts of the two largest Spanish cities.
