Professionals from across Cataluña are now joining the investment funds and trade associations, who have teamed up to initiate legal actions in light of an even greater siege on the rental housing sector due to the measures that the Generalitat announced at the end of December and the restrictions imposed by the Town Hall of Barcelona, in addition to those decreed by the Spanish Government.
Last week, the coalition government formed by the PSOE and Unidas Podemos assured that it will adopt measures within the reform of the Urban Leases Act (LAU) to avoid evictions due to the non-payment of rent in those homes owned by large property funds in areas with the most price tension. In addition, and by decree-law, the Government announced the renewal of the extension to the moratorium on mortgage evictions, a law that was created in 2013 and which has been renewed over the years.
