Overnight stays in non-hotel tourist accommodation – such as apartments, campsites, rural tourism accommodation and hostels – exceeded 5.9 million in February, up by 6.4% compared to the same month in 2019, according to provisional data published this Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Overnight stays by residents of Spain grew by 16.8% in the second month of the year, to exceed 1.5 million. On the other hand, those made by foreign tourists increased by 3.1%. However, the INE pointed out that February had one more weekend this year as 2020 is a leap year.
