Mortgage Lending Fell by Almost 30% during the First 15 Days of the Pandemic

The number of residential mortgages fell by 27.2% in the second half of March, according to real estate statistics from the College of Registrars.

The number of mortgages constituted in the property registry during the second half of March, the initial period of the State of Emergency, decreased significantly, by 27.3%, in the case of residential mortgages and by a similar figure (28.7%) in the case of mortgages over all types of properties, according to statistics published today by the College of Registrars.

Mortgage indebtedness per home decreased by 2.6% in quarterly terms, to reach an average amount of €126,906 per home, with eight autonomous communities registering quarterly decreases.
