
The project being spearheaded by Mercadona’s president, Juan Roig, to build a sports complex in Valencia on par with any of the NBA stadiums has taken another step forward, after the municipality granted the concession for the use of the plot for 50 years last Friday.
Specifically, the Local Government Board of Valencian City Council has granted Licampa 1617, a company controlled by the President and founder of the supermarket chain Mercadona, an administrative concession for the construction and operation of the Valencia Arena. The plot measures 21,500 square metres and is located between Calles Ángel de Villena, Bombero Ramón Duart and Antoni Ferrandis, in the Quatre Carreres neighbourhood.
