Madrid City Council will not be able to sell any land or housing destined for public protection, nor will it evict anyone from their homes until 31 December 2020. Moreover, any procedures already started will be paralysed until that date. Meanwhile, the council will acquire a sizeable package of tourist homes, through the transfer of their use, to incorporate them into its rental programs.
These are some of the almost 170 housing measures to emerge from the ‘Mesa Social de los Pactos de la Villa’, published on Madrid City Council’s website after an agreement was reached between the spokespersons. The agreement is scheduled to be officially approved on Tuesday in an extraordinary plenary session.
