Madrid wants to carve out a niche for itself as the preferred destination for technology companies and start-ups settling in Spain. As things stand, such companies frequently opt to set up shop in Barcelona.
In fact, according to calculations of the consulting firm Colliers, “between 15-20% of the office space leased in the Spanish capital houses technology companies, compared to more than 30% in the city of Barcelona,” explains Antonio Andreu, Associate Director of Landlord Rep Offices at Colliers, and Diego Oliver, Director of the Barcelona office, speaking to Brainsre.news.
