Madrid City Council has created an office to streamline the procedures for Madrid Nuevo Norte, the largest urban development operation ever undertaken in Spain, which has been in the pipeline for 25 years. The project is being promoted by the property developer DCN, which includes BBVA, Merlin and the construction firm San José, and was approved in July, after 26 years of setbacks.
And, according to Mariano Fuentes, the delegate for Sustainable Urban Development, to get the ball rolling, the “first stone” will be laid in November. That is when work will begin to concrete over of the railway lines in Chamartín station, on land owned by Adif.
