Madrid Announces Changes in the Region’s Social Housing Law

The regional government is planning to introduce certain changes in the current regulations, such as to the sale price of land used for the construction of protected homes and to increase the protection period.

The Community of Madrid has opened the process for a public hearing on its Draft Decree to regulate Social Housing in the region, where the Confederation of Housing Cooperatives of Spain (Concovi) will serve as the only not-for-profit agent in the housing sector recognised by the State.

The decree includes several new clauses with respect to current regulations, including the regulation of the sale price of land used by urban planners for the construction of protected homes, whose value will be calculated by applying the percentage limit of 25% in the case of VPPL and 15% in the case of VPPB, according to Concovi.
