The Spanish logistics market showed added strength during the first six months of 2021, as evidenced by contracting figures. A total of 1,330,000 m2 of facilities were taken up in those six months. Contracting went hand in hand with a record investment of 1.395 billion euros. It was the second-highest figure to date.
In the Central Zone, take-up reached 628,000 m2, the highest figure in the last decade. Prime rents stood at 5.50 euros/m2. Catalonia saw a take-up of 490,000 m2, with e-commerce accounting for 51%. In this case, the average rent also remained stable at 7 euros/m2.
The most important operations in the Central Peninsular Zone were the rental of 86,000 m2 by Carreras in Illescas, the rental by Cacesa of a 29,000 m2 warehouse in San Fernando de Henares and the turnkey lease of 47,000 m2 for Logista in Cabanillas del Campo. In Catalonia, three turnkey projects stand out: the 140,000 m2 turnkey project by an e-commerce operator in El Far D’Empordà; the 90,000 m2 extension by Mango in Lliçà D’Amunt and the 34,000 m2 turnkey project by Id Logistics in La Bisbal del Penedès.
