Investment in student residences in Spain is recovering from the slowdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, totalling more than 400 million euros so far in 2021.
The figures come from the latest report by the consultancy Savills Aguirre Newman, which points out that it is already 21% more than the total investment in student residences in the Spanish market during 2020. It is worth remembering that acquisitions of this type of asset last year fell by 27% compared to 2019, mainly due to mobility restrictions imposed by the health crisis.
Buyers have been mainly international, although the creation of joint ventures with foreign capital and with Spanish firms with local knowledge is becoming more and more frequent.
According to the consultancy, the arrival of large international groups is driving the improvement in the quality of the student residence stock and the average size of the assets. It will allow the creation of assets that are in line with international standards.
