Total sales decreased to around 38,500 operations in May 2020, down by 59% compared to the same month a year earlier. Meanwhile, house sales fell below 22,000 transactions during the month, down by 53.1% year-on-year, according to data from the College of Registrars.
On the other hand, total mortgages amounted to just over 35,000 operations in May, which represented a decrease of just 25.8%. For its part, residential mortgages amounted to 33,500, down by 24.8% compared to May 2019.
